cd-rom audio question

Hello,

I built a machine for a friend and everyting works fine except he said some of his audio cds (CD-A) would not reconize in the cd player/burner. So, I swapped in another cd burner and even checked a suspected cd he had in the burner/player of another machine before I did the swap and it reconized it fine. Now he says it is doing it on other cds. What's the deal? Can someone give me some advice. It's a AMD 850,Chaintech Socket A Motherboard,Maxtor 40GB,Lite-On 24X Burner,Onboard Audio,Voodoo3 AGP 16MB,256MB PC133.

Could be a damaged burner..when the ex's 2 year old burner quit it did the same ..wouldnt detect CD's..i installed it on my machine to make sure and same thing..could be damaged id replace that 1st. May check the ribben cables or swap the ribben cable. If the burner is the only drive on IDE 2 make sure its jumpered as master.
