floppy disck trouble

hi there
when i try accessing my floppy diskette an error message pops up
something to do with "drive not ready"
when i boot the computer the floppy light goes on and does not go off it stays on
i try to swap the cables to the floppy but the problem continues
apart from the floppy being bad what else could be the problem
please help:)

i guessed that u plug in the cable upside down, try turn the cable 180 degree and plug it in. if it is done right, the light will goes off.

At the risk of sounding too simple, have you cleaned your floppy lately? Sometimes the drive can start acting weird if it is too dirty and most people don't clean them often.

If the drive has gone bad, replacements can be gotten quite cheaply these days.
