Have: Legend QDI Brillianx 1s motherboard. Pentium II 350 mhz. western digital 8gb hard drive. 3com 56k modem. 32mb diamond stealth extreme videocard. creative ensoniq audio pci soundcard. 64mb of RAM. windows 98.

The games I have all do the same thing just randomly close to desktop. (Rogue spear, jane's USAF, Fleet Command, Mechwarrior 4, Call to power, etc..)

have latest drivers. no background programs just explorer and systray. Microsoft system info says no IRQ conflicts. Ran memory testing sofware for 14 hours w/ no problem. Tried different video and sound card with same result. Set AGP in BIOS to 32mb.

Had this problem for two years. Computer is mostly stable when not running any games.

Any Help?

my friends have this problem too and they keep asking me what is going on. Actually i have asked this question once before and the only responses i get are a lack of resources. What i think it is is a bug in Windows that might just go away with enough reboots ( but you say you have had the problem for two years ). Its strange cause it only happens with games!!!

Games can be big-time memory hogs, and 64M isn't really that much RAM any more. With prices so low lately, it might just be time to add a stick.

I have considered that maybe 64mb is not enough even though it meets the system requirements of the games. Has anyone seen similar behavior and had more memory solve the problem?
