im looking for a good router for my two puters, £200 or less. ive done a search for these but i have no idea on what would suit my need.
my setup is two nics, cross over cable, one on WinXP Pro and the other is used for messing around with, but i want to put Linux on it.
can i still use crossover cable from both pcs to router?
:D

What I would do is forget the crossover cable and get the following:
1) Linksys 4 port switch/router
2) Two straight through (not crossover) cat 5e patch cables of the appropriate length.
3) Less than 15 minutes later you are on line and ready to rock and roll.
I have a dozen clients on Linksys routers with DSL and cable connections and they perform superbly. I can't reccommend them highly enough.

I agree classicsoftware!
I've had a Linksys 4 port switch/router for a couple of years now(I think..I lose track of time). Anyway, it has worked great from day one.
(Three computers on Cable)
I've been sounding like a Linksys salesman lately, but jiggy,
HERE (http://www.linksys.com/Products/product.asp?grid=23&prid=20) is a link to their site with some good reading if you look around. ;)
While your at it check out NetGear

You will need to replace the cross over cable.
Regardless of the brand router or hub you use
