Ever since my last reinstall (this morning) every time my computer starts up the light on the floppy drive comes on for about a minute and an underscore cursor blinks on a black screen.... then it proceeds to the Windows XP loader and sometimes once i get into XP it says found new device floppy drive.. does that mean my floppy drive is bad? or... whats going on? Its never done this before now :-/

Bmcdonald:
Go into the BIOS settings, find and disable any settings to search for a new floppy at boot-up.
You can also set the system to go straight to the hard drive instead of looking to the floppy drive for an operating system.
Best wishes

Have you checked Device Manager to see what it says about the floppy's properties? I would look there before starting to mess with the Bios settings, although you can always go and change it back.
