Running Win2K Pro on two machines:
(1)with TDK 40/12/48x burner & latest Nero burning program
(2)with Yamaha 16/10/40x burner with Easy CD Creator version 4.05.
Downloaded the ISO images of Red Hat 7.3. Burned all three images to cd's on machine 1> ran to install problems.MDSUMS match.Performed "linux mediacheck" > disc 1 failed the test with each copy I burned.
Downloaded disc 1 a second time > same result.
Transferred disc 1 image to computer 2 and burned the image > disc 1 passed the "linux mediatest".
How do I determine if the problem is with my TDK burner or with the Nero burning program? Easy Cd Creator 4.05 will not work with the TDK burner and I don't feel like shelling out $80+ for version 5 > have heard of many problems with W2K Pro & XP & Easy Cd Creator.
Recently created and burned bootable copies of my W2K Pro (slipstreamed with P3)and my XP Pro Cd's on machine 1 and both work fine.
Has anyone heard of a problem with Nero or the TDK burner in regards to burning ISO images?
Also: This is the first burner I've had that has to be the "Master" on it's channel. Is this just for TDK burners or are others this way? Have two Yamaha burners and one Creative burner none of which require them to be "Masters".
Any help will be appreciated!

Tuzinor,

Is it possible that under Nero you just burned the ISO to the disk, as an image and not as what the image contained?

The easiest check I know of is to look at the disk in Windows, if it is one big file then all you did was transfer the imag to it (not really a bad thing, because you now have a backup of the image file and can file it away to save incase you damage one of the install disks.)

I have used Nero to burn the Mandrake images, and accidentally burned one as the image file. Here (http://www.linuxiso.org/viewdoc.php/neroburning.html) is a how-to on burning images with Nero...

No I follow the directions for the latest Nero.I checked the other two cd's (disc 2 & 3)disc 2 passed the "mediacheck" test but disc 3 did not. I just burned disc 3 on my other machine with the Yamaha 16X burner & Easy Cd Creator 4.05 and will test it as soon as I shut down.
I'm trying to figure out if I have a defective TDK burner or a problem with both the burner & Nero.
By the way Ive been using the same media that I used to burn bootable Windows cd's.
