Just installed RedHat 7.3. Have Mandrake 8.2 installed on this machine also > Audigy sound card & Audigy drive work right out of the box. RedHat > no such luck. Found different sites with info on installing emu10k1 driver > no luck. Noticed in Mandrake that it actually has Audigy driver (audigy.0?). Is there a way to copy Audigy files from Mandrake 8.2 that I could use for RedHat 7.3? If so > what do I need and how to I compile them in RedHat? Thank's > confused & frustrated.

Check Creative's site, they may have a RedHat package (they do offer some Linux support...)

scratch that idea....just checked...no Linux support, yet

Just booted into RedHat 7.3 >(first time since last nite)> Kudzu came up telling it had found new hardware > my Audigy soundcard > clicked configure > sound card is up and running.I was following the instructions that came in the Emu10k1 download.I did at one point late last nite copy the Kernel configuration file (Athlon version) from the directory /usr/src/linux-2.4/configs > (renamed it .config) to the /usr/src/linux-2.4 directory.
If I remember correctly I did the following:
used ARK to open the download file > opened a shell window and changed into the Emu10k1 directory > edited the config file to point to the Linux kernel sorce directory > typed "make" > then "make install" >after I put the Athlon kernel config file into the /usr/src/linux-2.4 directory I didn't get any errors when I did the above.
I'm trying to learn how to configure things in Linux if they don't work automatically after install > so after I did the above with "make" & "make install" was there another command I should have ran? Obviously I did something right for Kudzu to come when I booted into RH 7.3 today.I'm happy but I'd like to know how to do things correctly!
