After installing the latest updates to Office2000 none of the programs would work properly. They would all open, and I might be able to open the about dialog to check versions. But within 5 seconds they would shut down.
After doing a complete dnr of Office 2000 it works fine.
I checked the M$ Site but couldn't find anything that would help. Any ideas? I really hate running with all these stupid M$ security holes wide open.

Don't know what to say other than I try never to go there unless I absolutely have to; and if I do, then I make an image file of my drive beforehand (or as a minimum create a restore point).
The last visit there plagued me with Japanese characters appearing in all sorts of odd places!
Just a personal impression - but updates seem to work most stably immediately after a fresh install. Also, even if not prompted, have nothing else running when you upgrade - and I often will run msconfig and start up minimally to ensure this is the case.

Have done and do do all of those things. This is the first time that I have ever actually installed the updates cause I really don't need them that bad. I am even attempting to get away from using M$ products as much as possible simply because they tend to suck. Once I get some free time I plan to sit down and write my own office suite to start giving away.

LOL :D I keep meaning to try out StarOffice[tm] 6.0 Office Suite (http://wwws.sun.com/software/star/staroffice/6.0/) but let me know when you're ready to start beta testing your apps

Tried StarOffice. It's nice but not top quality interaction with the M$ Systems. I'm thinking that by the time I have a chance to actually build my own, M$ will have released information about the internal functions of the OS which will provide the ability to provide a stable, robust application.
Of course, I've got 3 kids (5 month old, 3.5 yr old, 2.5 yr old) plus a full time job so I'm gonna be busy for the next 20 years or so.
