Every once in a while me and my friend get our computer together and we hookup the CAT5 Crossover and do some Internet Connection Sharing. Now in these rare instances we have to set up the LAN and install all of the protocols. It seems as soon as i install those protocols for the LAN connection Shutdown/Starting up is very slow, it like hangs waiting for Norton Internet Security to start up along with Norton Antivirus. I have no idea why it would do this as soon as install the NetBios Protocols, I've heard of this with other people as well, what is the deal?

It should create some slowdown but not a lot. I would look at the Win XP services and close down what you don't need
