Hi, in windows2000 server even after I mute the volume the output sound is very clear, but it is muted only when I mute the "wave Balance" in the volume properties. What may be the problem? I also tried re-installing the audio drivers.

Note:
I'm using Intel 810 chipset with onboard soundcard. The audio driver is "AC'97 Driver for Intel(r) 82801 AA Controller".

Advanced thanks.:D

Hi netharam,

Are you saying that going to Start > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control and putting a check in the "Mute All" check box doesn't mute your audio? BUT if you put a check in the box under "Wave" THEN your audio is turned off?

If that's the case, welcome to the club. I had a computer (for 2 years) with the 810 chipset and mine did the same thing. Never really caused me any problems, though. :)

Thanks Steve ,this is not at all a problem ,but I'm a bit eager to know what caused this & also will the system change it's approach with the devices even when the same device driver is used i.e not update or changed?

This is just to know the reason background .:D
