I've got a problem with 'restarts' in WinME which occurs on most manual or automatic reboots.
The system appears to shut down OK but then hangs during the restart. This occurs after a manual restart (selecting Restart from the Start/Shutdown menu) and also when programs restart after a 'Do you want to restart your computer now?' situation. It stops during the restart at a blank Dos type screen with a blinking cursor in the top left hand corner. The only way I can proceed from there is by pressing the soft start button twice or pressing the reset button.
It shuts down normally, and always reboots after a normal shutdown OK.
There's plenty of RAM and spare resources etc and I clean re-installed ME recently. The problem had occurred on my previous install and never happened after the re-install until I loaded (I think) IE6 from IE5.5.
Any ideas?
