Did you look to see if there was an uninstall file in the Roxio folder? This is probably too simple, but sometimes there is and it may still work if you haven't deleted the wrong stuff.
More likely you will need to boot into Safe Mode and see if you can take it out from there. Try Add/Remove from Safe Mode.
Third alternative: download one of the uninstall programs off the web that claim to clear everything out. PCWorld just did a bit in the online newsletter about that, so you could probably find several in PCWorld downloads under Utilities.
Good luck,

Try reinstalling original Roxio easy CD 5 and then uninstalling it.

After trying to uninstall from the Roxio folder, it detected the old version of EZ CD Creator and cancelled the uninstall. I do not have the old software. Any efforts to remove the files are futile, because it says "access denied"! I love that part.

There are specific problems related to the OS in question. The following is copied from Plextor Support (http://www.plextor.com/english/support/faqs/faq_sw.html) and may or may not be relevant to your problem.
"When I try to install Easy CD Creator Basic, Microsoft Windows gives an error message: "A previous version of Easy CD Creator is installed."
Note: This FAQ requires editing the registry. We strongly recommend that you export or backup your registry before attempting any editing. Editing your registry incorrectly can cause irreparable operating system damage. For information on exporting, importing, and restoring your registry, view the help topics in Regedit.exe.
For Windows 9x, ME and NT:
From the Start menu, run "Regedit"
Go into:
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\{609F7AC8-C510-11D4- A788-009027ABA5D0}
Open the folder and remove entries for Adaptec or Easy CD Creator.
If the key is not found, then look for:
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\Adaptec Master Setup When you find the entry, delete the Adaptec Master Setup folder.
Reboot your system and install the Easy CD Creator application from the PlexWriter disc.
For Windows 2K and XP;
From the Start Menu, run "Regedit"
Go into:
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Classes\Installer\Prod ucts\8CA7F906015C4D117A88000972BA5A0D Open the folder and remove any entries for Adaptec or Easy CD Creator.
If the key is not found, then look for:
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Classes\Installer\Prod ucts\Adaptec Master Setup When you find the entry, delete the Adaptec Master Setup folder.
Reboot your system and install the Easy CD Creator application from the PlexWriter disc.
You still have not answered what version of Windows you are using....this is improtant because some of the removal procedures are very version specific.

Hello Cornbread
Do you have a backup taken before this software was installed?
If so you can re-format and restore the backup and your software system will be back as it was before it's installation.

Cornbread,
Just boot up into your alternate installation of Win2K (or whatever OS you're using) and delete the desired files from there. You DO have a second version of your OS installed on a separate partion don't you? ;) I find having a second version of Win2K installed on my machine is essential. It allows me to delete whatever files I want in the primary installation partition.
