self booting computer

Can some help? I have a computer that will shut down and reboot by itself while i and useing it. I am running windows xp pro. and have gotton some auto updates. I didn't have any problems until it update automatic last weekend. Can some give me some advice on how to start troubleshooting a problem of this nature. Thanks Nubbin :eek:

One of the features of XP is "crash recovery".

XP can recover from things that would cause an 9x system to hang, and if it can't fix it any other way it will reboot.

So, you will need to find the various logs to try and figure out what is causing it. The event veiwer is the place to start.
