I have an emachines 400 Mhx running windows 98. It had been acting up with "Program has peformed an illegal action " on anything from Solitaire to Publisher. Then oneday, nothing. It said I had an error in my CONFIG.SYS file on line 19. I went ahead and reistalled windows, several times but all I get is;
VMM32.VXD is required to run Windows
If this file in not in your PATH, you may need to reinstall Windows.
Now what do I do? I've reinstalled Windows using every option.
Thanks for helping this newbie.

Does your computer boot all the way into Windows?

Check out this page... http://www.windows-help.net/windows98/vmm32.shtml
...it has alot of information about VMM32.VXD errors.

Also if you go to www.google.com (http://www.google.com) and type in VMM32.VXD you may find more information on your exact problem
