Very thoughtful of you Donna-
Hard to believe it was a year ago since that nightmare- I remember it as vividly as if it were yesterday.
Something the world will never forget.
Thanks on behalf of all Americans..(And friends!)

September is a month of remembrance for me.
9/11/01, I sat in shock for hours as I watched the events unfold on television. An overwhelming sense of sorrow,anger and helplessness.
9/21/99. Three years ago a devastating earthquake struck Taichung and a large area of Taiwan. Over 2000 people lost their lives, some I knew personally.
A sad month of remembrance:( . But yet thankful for what I have.

Nice one there Donna. No one will ever forget. It's like yesterday when my buddy called me and roused me outta bed and told me to get to the TV right now because, "a whole bunch of bad stuff is happening". I must've been glued to CNN for two weeks straight forsaking just about everything else. I think it took about 6 months before I actually had any kind of restfull sleep.
I won't have a candle in here but my two flags that fly unfurled off my front balcony will be half masted on the 11th.
Here's a nice Power Point slide presentation that a friend sent me via email. Unfortunately he wasn't able to tell me who created it and the only information included within the file properties lists "DDEYOE" as author, so I have no idea where it originated. You may have seen it already, but if you haven't (and maybe even if you have) I think you'll enjoy it. It's called Boeing's Message to Bin Laden (http://home.pacbell.net/rsdotson/images/MessageFromBoeing.pps).

And Death Shall Have No Dominion
Dylan Thomas
And death shall have no dominion.
Dead men naked they shall be one
With the man in the wind and the west moon;
When their bones are picked clean and the clean bones gone,
They shall have stars at elbow and foot;
Though they go mad they shall be sane,
Though they sink through the sea they shall rise again;
Though lovers be lost love shall not;
And death shall have no dominion.
And death shall have no dominion.
Under the windings of the sea
They lying long shall not die windily;
Twisting on racks when sinews give way,
Strapped to a wheel, yet they shall not break;
Faith in their hands shall snap in two,
And the unicorn evils run them through;
Split all ends up they shan't crack;
And death shall have no dominion.
And death shall have no dominion.
No more may gulls cry at their ears
Or waves break loud on the seashores;
Where blew a flower may a flower no more
Lift its head to the blows of the rain;
Though they be mad and dead as nails,
Heads of the characters hammer through daisies;
Break in the sun till the sun breaks down,
And death shall have no dominion.

I am reminded by the minute of that day. My husband called me from work to tell me to turn on the TV. I sat there in shock just like we all did. After I had understood what had happened the tears came. They still come, even now. I have never felt such agony, grief and anger as I did on that day but I have never seen so many people from so many places around the world come together in such love and sympathy either. Tomorrow is going to be hard on all of us, but we will get through it together. Thank you very much to all our friends from everywhere for your kindness and caring. If the world could be like this forum what a wonderful planet we would have. United we all stand.
LG:(
I'm going to try and put the picture here that I have had on my desktop for almost a year. It never lets me forget. Sorry if it doesn't come out.

Forgive the intrusion, but do you need some assistance to post your desktop picture?
Just let me know if I , or anyone else, can help at all. :)

So sorry about the delay in getting back you.:o
Of course I'll help.
First of all, is your image file in Desktop and do you know size the file is - in Kb's.
This is very important and if you don't know, then right-click on file and then select "Properties" (It's at the bottom of the list).This will give you file size under the "General" tab.
When you have the file size, it's plain sailing if it's under 20k. If not, it gets a wee bit more complicated, but we'll wait an see, shall we?
Do you have a Web site, or access to any Web space by the way?

It's one year later and I have been wondering what to say. Thanks Donna for starting the post. I can think of nothing that can compare to these words...
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."
"Blessed are those who hunger for righteousness, for they will be filled."
"Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy."
"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God."
Please pray for peace.

My prayers go out to those who lost loved ones in this absolutely senseless act of aggression! Indeed, "May they be comforted!"

Funny. I was just thinking about that "light a candle" thread from last year and possibly doing something like this, but Donna read my mind... ;)

Thanks to all for the well wishes for us and our country, especially those of you from other parts of the world.
I don't think I'll soon forget three rescue workers raising a flag over the rubble...Yassir Arafat on a stretcher giving blood a few days later...hundreds, possibly thousands of Britishers at the change of the guard waving American flags and singing our National Anthem...200,000 Germans demonstrating in Berlin, most of whom were waving American flags...similar demonstrations of care and concern from parts of the world we would have never suspected...
Wreaths, flowers and other tokens in a park in Italy, foreign governments everywhere promising their support...it never seemed to end...
And let's not forget either, that innocent people from a number of countries also lost their lives in those buildings, not just Americans. British, Japanese, Germans and a number of others were lost along with the Americans, just because it was in our country and we lost the largest number of friends and relatives, we should not forget the foreigners who went along with ours. My flag will be out for them tomorrow too.

As one of those foreign nationals, a humble "thank you".
I hope today is not too much of an ordeal for you and your family.
