Thanks in advance for your inputs! I just want to know how to change the location of desktop from the usual %systemdrive%\documents and settings\%username%\desktop to an alternate location? Thanks again!!!

There is a description halfway down this page (http://www.diskerrors.com/modules.php?name=News&new_topic=8). It appears that the version of TweakUI Power Toy is important. Be interesting to know it this works for you.

I can't seem to find where on that page they address changing desktop location! Thanks for your inputs anyways!

This is what it says:-Go to http://www.microsoft.com/ and download the TweakUI 1.1 powertoy. Make sure you get the separate version as at the time of this writing the one in the powertoys kit was a different version. Install it by double clicking on it to expand then find the .inf file and right click on it. Select "install" from the menu and it will install. Now open control panel / tweakui and go to the general tab. In the middle of the screen is the desktop folder and the change location button. It should be pretty straight forward from there.

I don't have TweakUI installed on Win2K so can't tell you about using it in practice - (and that option does not appear on the version of TweakUI installed on my version of WinME).

There may be a way of cutting and pasting the folder to where you want it but this may not allow the registry to be updated so that all relevant references point to it. I do know that this works for the MyDocuments folder (with the Registry settings updated) but the Desktop may be a different Virtual M$ folder altogether and I haven't (yet) found any good links on how one might achieve this or edit the registry after manually moving the folder. :p
