Whenever i try to play movie files from my system , after 2 to 3 minutes ,the system hangs and i need to go for a reboot and this happens always. But when i run the same movie from cdrom drive directly,no error occurs and everything is fine.

About my configuration:

Pentium III processor
20 GB HDD
128 MB RAM
52x cdrom drive

Thanks in advance for any insights.

What are you using as a player program?

What format are the movies?

What is your processor speed?

What and how many items are running in the background?

When you say "from my system", do you mean you are copying just the .DAT file to your hard drive and trying to play it from there? If so, I think you probably need all the files from the CD, possibly in the same sequence as they are on the CD, to play the movie correctly. This seems obvious since the movie plays OK directly from the CD. But even if you copy all the CD files to the HD, I still don't think it will play, especially if it is a retail/commercial software item.

I think you have exactly pointed out the problem as towards the end of copying the whole CD onto HD it showed an error saying "access denied to copy a file" but this happened at the final moment [99%]and i presumed everything will be fine as it's just a warning that too for a single file.

Thanks a lot for your help tjmadison.
