After reading and responding to the thread about SP1, I thought If I do download it a manager might be a good idea.
My question is which is the best free one and do they really work?
1.8ghz 512 ddr 129gb hardrive XP home.
Thanks Mark:)

I don't know mark...I've used a few of them over the past couple of years and at the end of the day I don't know if I'm any better off. Sorry I'm not much help here.
I haven't found that they make the download any faster...but they do support "Resume" (although I don't know if MS download servers support it).
I use Stardowloader (http://www.stardownloader.com/index.php) (no spyware)

I like the Opera Browser, which comes with a good downloader and a pause function.

I don't use Download Managers for drivers and MS updates... and if I remember right it's also in the instructions. These are core files and need be downloaded as it should be and not to be split by Download Managers.

For me, the Widows downloader works quicker on W98Se than either DAP -Spyware(!!) - or even Stardownloader.
Anyway, I've also found that a number of download sites, like CNet seem to block multiple download managers. :)
