Windows FIle Protection error in XP

Dudes;

I was upgrading a friends computer to XP and I got this error on Windows File Protection about having unrecognized versions of files and I needed to inser the XP installation disk again. I did so and hit retry and it goes away. If I remove the installation disk, it eventually comes back. What is the deal?

I take it this was an upgrade over top of an existing version of Windows?

If so, what version?

You may want to consider doing a clean install of XP.

It looks like the computer had the loveletter virus. I have cleaned that up and it appears to have gone away. I will keep my fingers crossed.
