hi, i have encountered a strange problem with my laptop, lately when i have booted it up, it goes through the normal process(i.e. memory check etc), but for some reason it states that it has a 1200mhz processor when it has only got a 700mhz one installed!
Also when this happens, the system usually hangs or it comes up with a bad check sum error? and says that the date and time are wrong, which they usually are despite me changing them everytime!
Also sometimes when i boot the laptop with just the battery running, the text becomes jumbled and unreadable, but if i boot with the power supply in it is ok????
i have tried playing around in the bios but to no avail!
it is a

750mhz intel pro
win98se
256kmb ram
20gb hd
dvd etc
and it is only a couple of months old and still in guarantee luckly
