I have an NT 4.0 child domain that resides within a 2K AD parent domain. The child domain points to the parent domain for WINS resolution. The PDC and BDC of the child domain both have Browser registry settings as follows:
MaintainServerList = Yes
IsMasterBrowser = False
My questions are:
1) If WINS is being used then will there even be a need for a Master Browser?
2) Is it true that each domain will have a Master Browser? Is this still true if wins resolution is being provided?
3) Is there another way to determine if a machine is acting as a master browser if the Browmon.exe on the Windows NT 4.0 Resource Kit is unavailable?
Thanks in advance for any answers provided.
