This is why I hate the Internet sometimes (although I love it 99% of the time).

There is an item that has installed itself into my toolbar in IE6. It's kind of like the Google toolbar, but it's from an unfamiliar source. It's like one of those search services that bombards your computers with pop-ups. Ugh. It's not even labelled in the dropdown menu when I right-click on the toolbar. There is just a blank space with a checkmark beside it (which I am constantly unchecking.)

My question is, How do I uninstall this? I have no idea what it is named, or where the file is located. Thanks!

Ok does this tool bar have a name?

Maybe Hotbar? Xupiter?

First I would grab and run both AdAware and Spybot S&D (links in the AV app link in my sig). They, together will get almost all of the soyware out there. Then, start looking for things in you startup files (a great new start up logger is Startup List (http://www.spywareinfo.com/files/startuplist.zip) (this is a direct download link, the info is here (http://www.geocities.com/merijn_bellekom/new/files.html)...it lists everything, but you have to use the list and manually trun off the junk).

If the toolbar has a name, there maybe an unistaller available for it.

Also if you know where you got it from or if you know what program it came with let me know (I may want a copy of it...).

Okay, by clicking on one of the links, I've gathered that this is a search bar from GoCyberSearch.com. And trust me, you don't want it. It's ad-ware junk. I'll try the programs you recommended. Thanks!

I want it not to install and use but to pass on to the developers of the above mentioned apps....:D

PS: Actually Spybot will get it, you may have to run the update once you install it. So I won't need it.

Here's your problem!

No problem to Spybot - or AdAware, as mjc has already indicated.;)
