Couldn't they just patch the hole in the boat and sail back home? Why didn't anyone ever think of that?

Why did they pack all those clothes, especially the Howells, for a 3 hour tour?

They did try to patch the boat and Gilligan messed it up, I don't remember how. Of course there were a number of other ways that would have worked too, but then they couldn't have used that palm tree laden set.

They had all those clothes because the Howells would NOT have looked good in grass skirts.
