Hey all. I'd like some info. on these side blowhole fans that alot of cases are coming with these days. I heard that they are actually harmful to your airflow; that they create a whirlwind over your pci slots. Is this true? If anyone can give me some performance info. I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

I see nothing wrong with using a side blow hole in a case
I have built one system using this method to supply extra air to the PCI slots.
It was a fully loaded ( all 6 pci slots used) system and the cards needed the extra air
In all cases you should make sure your air flow is correct.
In the Front .. Bottom and out the Back top
Then adding an extra fan to cool the slots won’t hurt anything
Just make sure the fans used to exhaust the air are moving the air out
I set up my systems so that the exhaust fans move the same amount or more air than the inlet fans

Agree with rick and you can use a switch so you can turn them on or off as needed.
