Hi all,

I hope I am in the right section for this question. It is a specific fault symptom which you may be able to help me with.

A student of mine (A) has an AOL internet account and can Tx from A to A and Rx that OK.
He can Tx to me and I Rx the message OK with my Freeserve Account.

He CANNOT Rx emails from me or anyone else who has tried except from himself.

I am not familiar with AOL mailing system but I feel that this must be some error in HIS configuration.

Perhaps you can help. I can try and get more information if necessary.

Thanks

Not sure if this is the same problem posted on another thread .. but what happens to mails that you send him. Do they get returned or do they appear to be disappearing into space. Check if he can access them using the webmail option - if he can then his configuration of AOL is wrong. If they are not reaching the webmail inbox at all then check the eMail address carefully; perhaps it's case sensitive. If you are using Reply to rather than entering the address manually perhaps he has the reply to field incorrectly entered.

Another thought is that he may have enabled some blocked/allow senders list.

A final thought is to do with the way AOL synchronises/downloads mails from the server onto the pc via its interface. Since one has very little control over AOL it does most of this automatically, and I know that my uncle has lost both address book entries and emails, when some of the AOL files on the HDD got corrupted or deleted.

Hi Paul,

I did post the thread twice, being unsure of where to send it.

Thanks for your information, I have decided in the light of what you say, and what I thought, to let him consult someone else who may want to deal with this one.

I wasn't too keen about this one anyway.

Many thanks again

Ray
