Hello to all,

I have an installation CD of Redhat but vmlinuz file was damaged. I tried to recover all the cd files that were not damage by copying them to my hard drive(WinXP is my current OS). After some time of file verification, vmlinuz file(on dosutils) was really found damage. I downloaded this file from internet and copy it in dosutils directory and I though those files(originally from installation CD) the boot up again and working. but still I can't boot my pc using this copied CD. I verified that vmlinuz file(downloaded from internet) is in text file extension while on my cd is another(I can't remember which extension was that). I need help where I can get the right file(bootup files) or somebody can point me where to buy(internet address?) only the installation CD. Thanks for your help.

If you copied the content of the Original CD to your HDD.
Then burned another copy to a new disk.

The reason you can’t boot from it is simple.
It’s Not a bootable cd any more

You may want to try using the Make Bootdisk Utility in Dosutil ( Create a Floppy bootdisk)
then use that to boot and install RH from the new copy

You can purchase either an official release from Red Hat (http://www.redhat.com) (which entitles you to support) or a relabelled Pink Ties distribution from CheapBytes: http://cart.cheapbytes.com/cgi-bin/cart/0070010807.html
