I have a ~1yo gateway 1100 athlon w/a 40g hdd, to which I would like to add a 2nd hdd. OS is ME. My initial reason for adding the drive is to dual boot with win2k, so I can see if it is any less appalling than ME in terms of stability, but I also want the added storage for mp3's etc. My questions are 1) what brands & specs should I look for 2) are there any good sites on the subject of dual booting and 3) I'm thinking 60-80 gig for the 2nd drive, is this likely to be enough or while I'm at it should I go 100 or so (I know, depends on anticipated usage) 4) what are some good/reliable/CHEAP online sources of hdd's? I'd like to spend less than $150.00.

Thanks,

BA

CompUSA and MicroCenter both have 60 gig hds on sale this week for less than $100 and this is typically true most weeks. Maxtor or Western Digital are both the most common and generally well rated.

Again:D www.newegg.com

Great deals here. Like Budfred said, Maxtor or Western Digital. If Maxtor get the quiet drive (liquid), if WD jump up to 80 Gigs and get WD800JB model with 8 MB buffer.

Here's a starter for dual booting 9x/ME and 2000
