What is the resolution of the card set for?
Make sure the resolution is optimal for the card & Monitor. Try the monitor on another system.
If you boot up with a dos disk or Windows starup disk and get to an A:> prompt is the ghost still there??

the video card is an asus geforce 3 card set at 1600 x 1200, and no when in dos, you don't see a ghost image cause its a black background, only when the background is white or light colored you see a faint white/gray ghost image about 1 to 2mm to the right

Does the ghost remain if you lower the resolution?????

I have a CRT that came with a cable without ferrite chokes (those cylindrical things at one or both ends of a VGA cable).
I bought a pair of clamp-on ferrites of the right diameter and the ghosting went away.
Also just check the connections....
Is the cable hardwired to the monitor?
If not check both ends for a bent pin.

the cable to the monitor is not hardwired, checked the pins, looks good, i'm going to see if the ferrites trick will work, i'm going to try and pick up a couple. also i tried the monitor hooked up to a dell laptop, better but the ghosting is still there, wonder if i should buy another monitor cable?
The chokes may do the trick, or it may be cheaper to get a cable with the chokes incldued....haven't priced them lately.

I used these from AllElectronics.com (http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=search&item=FB-37&type=store) , the extra wire is easily removed. They cleaned up the slight ghosting I had.
I tried a Linksys four foot KVM cable as a VGA cable extension, and it caused ghosting. I've bought VGA extension and KVM cables from hurricane-computers.com (http://www.hurricane-computers.com/cart/category.cfm?cat=27&UserID=-78351991) . These don't cause ghosting for me.

bought a new monitor cable and two chokes, place one on each end, still ghosting, i'm thinking it might be the tube?
