Something strange is happening...... I connect to my ISP and then suffer a delay of about 1min 15secs before I can get any data transfer(happens on all 3 of my ISP's).... this has only started occurring in the last few weeks.
Just Bloody Irritating!
Any Ideas?
Were any hardware and/or software changes made in the last few weeks?
If so, then there may be a conflict.
If not, check for a virus, clean out the Temp and Temporary Internet Files folders, do a ScanDisk and a defragment, and d/l Ad-aware to clean out any spyware.
If still no luck, restart your computer, and shut down all programs except Explorer and Systray.
Finally, uninstall and reinstall your ISPs' software.

I have a Telewest, Blueyonder Broadband connection, which is really fast at downloading data but:
Now and again, when trying to connect to a webpage it can take quite some time to fetch it. I believe that what's happening is that [if the web page has not recently been requested and is not stored locally] the ISP is requesting the page and the request is being passed up the line until a copy is finally found and downloaded to the server and passed on to the client. Some times the searching and connection takes a while.
Or have I got it wrong again!
It depends....some ISPs do locally cache pages, and yes if the page in the local cache has expired or isn't present there can be a delay.
This seems to be a little more than that, though.
We need a little more to go on here...
Type of service (dial up, broadband), system specs, OS, programs running in the background, browser you are using...anything set to auto-update.
Delays can also be caused by an excessively large browser cache, it has to search through all the cached pages first, so clear the cache and then set it to 5 to 10MB.
