Hi all
I have just now had a chance to do a bit of catching up here at the Guide. I see that we have some very talented people here still and a few newer contributors that are right on the money too!
I have been busy with my pc- shop, web-site maintenace and remodeling a new house I just purchased- so I have not been here as much, regretably.
**knew something was missing!**
generally when I get home @ night I am too tired to even see straight.... but things are coming together and I look forward to working with my fellow "Geeks" here.

:D :D Here's a little prayer for the new house
BEER PRAYER
Our Lager,
Which art in barrels,
Hallowed be thy drink,
Thy will be drunk, (I will be drunk)
At home as it is in our pub,
Give as this day of our foamy head,
And forgive us for our spillage's,
As we forgive those who spill against us,
And lead us not to incarceration,
But deliver us from hangovers,
For thine is the ALE, The bitter and The lager.
For ever and ever.

..... Hang out when you can Seanio .....
We need someone to harass now and then.
;) :D :D

Seanio,
Glad to see that you are just busy rather than having bad luck fall your way.
I have gone into semi-retirement here myself, but I don't think I have been helpful enough to be missed like you and other knowledgeable people :)

Not true, Reid ..I notice when other "peripherals" like me have been absent for awhile! I too have been busy with other things, but mostly here at the Guide have been rendered obsolete by XP..lol.
Sea : Need a bit more detail, please? I have had a mental pic of your shop in your house in Baltimore for a long time. Are you moving your shop to the new house...or are you retaining the old house as just a "shop" now?? Assume either means a certain amount of prosperity and growth..so congratulations!:D
Kay you'll never be oboslete........

Was just heading into After Hours to ring both you and Kay up and check on your whereabouts! Bingo, I see the recent post...and lo and behold both your names appear in the same context!
Glad everything is alright! I mean, there are other things in the world that demand attention other than the PC GUIDE...right?! :D

Sorry, Seanio ...I noticed the name thing. Was just being as stubborn about that as my mom..lol. Haven't used my given first name for 30 years, and when my mom calls me by my first and middle given names, I actually flinch!! :D Could be a lot worse, though..got cousins who are well into their forties and fifties still called "Davey" and "Stevie" by the family. And even worse than that..my mother-in-law uses my husband's "baby" name of "Cookie." You can imagine how he feels about that!
So, Seanio , my question still stands. Need a new mental pic..:)
Thanks, mjc , for the kind remark! But I console myself with the thought that being obsolete in one area does not translate to obsolete in ALL areas...lol. Besides, as I have mentioned before, most people in our area are fairly low income..until recently, a person down the road lived in an old Greyhound bus (they have a manufactured house now) and further down is another guy living "between" a travel trailer and a 5x10 shack..and so, the puters we need to "fix" are 95 and 98 models..with a couple of ME's thrown in, so lack of XP expertise is not a problem yet. :)

Kay,
You invited a little time travel there with "Cookie!" 77 Sunset Strip and Ed "Cookie" Burns. 'Twas a heartthrob of many a young lass in them there days! ;) :D
Your husband's in good company....

Kay and several others will well remember last year the "Me and Julio" thread!
thank you all for the kind words, but there are guys like Reid- whom I have always looked to for solid answers to difficult questions- and quite a few others who just probably didn't have the time to post as much as I did!
;)
Kay, I have every driver for every single piece of hardware I have ever installed burned to cd's and indexed for easy access, eye level on pegs (alpabetically) modems, NIC's, scanners, printers, cams etc.
I of course do NOT have every OS just sitting around.... ya know
I have a long (14 foot) table that I work on peoples machines, underneath are drawers which contain all the tools and frequently needed items- I have an entire basement of parts from other pc's that people just give me for salvage- the computer busseness is not my main one, it is something I do on the side for fun and profit.
{{well, not that much profit, but I'm about to become more expensive}}
:p
