Win 95, WMP 6.4 (was same with earlier one) on 100mHz laptop with 20 meg memory. Start to play .mpg and get blue scren with something like Fatal exception 0E in DxDsound03 at .... called from DxDsound01. Although "It may be possible to continue normally", that has never yet happened. Have to ctl-alt-del to kill WMP, can usually go on with other stuff thereafter.

I believe this used to work with the distributed Win 95B WMP but that was months ago; have forgotten details. When I tried it the other day and it failed I loaded WMP 6.4 which failed in the same way.

Clues, anyone?

It very well could be that the laptop just isn't up to speed to play some types of video.

My God, well are u sure media and sound work on a 100Mhz computer??? 20 megs memory??? Dammmmn. I'd consider upgrading but if u can't then try getting an updated driver for DxDsound03.vxd or whatever the DxDsound file is called, from the Internet.

Waltah, try installing the latest directX drivers. (ver 8.1 ... given yor configuration you will need ver 81.1 for "optimal" performance ... hehe ;) ...just joking)

rahulkothari, you may actually be on to something, but I don't think going up to 8 is needed, just like 6 maybe?
