I am just trying to use regularly a CD-RW as an A: diskette, and I have a few things I want to do but would like some advice first if some one can help me please.
When I need to back up (NOT "BACKUP") files, I write a batch file and tell XCOPY to overwrite only files which are different from those on the destination disk. Because of the size of a diskette I have never tried to do this with a directory, only files.
I have an actual example with which to try.
I have just been copying files and directories to the virtual A: CD by using COPY for months rather tediously.
Now I want to recopy back to C:\....(I don't mind too much whether this stage goes wrong).
Then I want to update and/or change some files/directories on the Hard drive.
Then I want to Xvopy back to virtual A: CD only those which are different using XCOPY (in a batch file)as I mentioned.
Perhaps you can advise of anything which might not work doing it this way. Or possibly suggest a better way, as I want to use this process regularly (the XCOPY bit I mean, since the original copies I made to the virtual A: were before I even knew about CD-RW).
I will be very grateful for any help please.
