View Full Version : Network Installation - Almost There
Hi All,
Thanks for all your previous tips regarding the network problem I was having. I reinstalled Win2K and all is working well.
I can see my Win98SE computer from Win2K but I cannot see Win2K from my Win98SE computer. The error message that I get is:
\\Computer1 is not accessible.
No permission to access resource.
Does anyone know of a way around this problem.

You have to have a user name on the WIN2K Box that matches the user name you use to log into the WIN 98 computer... The user will have to have the necessary permissions to accomplish what you need to accomplish.
Hi ClassicSoftware,
My username on my Win2K box is Administrator and my password is Ben.
When I turn on my Win98se box, it doesn't prompt me for a username and password. How do I set a username and password on the Win98se box so that I know it matches the info with the Win2K box??
And then when I do that, what do I do to get the right permissions happening?
Thanks very much for your help.

On the Win2K box, add a new user called Ben. Make the password whatever you like.
On the Windows 98 box, rt click on Network Neighborhood.
Click on properties.
Under Primary Network Logon select client for Microsoft Networks.
Re-boot and you should be OK
If not,
click on start log off ?????
You will get to a logon screen and then Enter Ben as the User name and the same password you selected on the Win2K box.
Hey Mate,

Everything is up and running now. Pat on the back 4 u!
