I was getting a BIOS checksum error, so I went into BIOS settings and changed the boot sequence and saved the settings. Now when i reboot the system appears to be booting OK... single beep, then hard disk rattle (as if going into windows) BUT there is now nothing on the monitor.
How stupid have I been?? Is there any solution??
Thanks

Go to this site and follow the directions to troubleshoot your problem. scroll down on the left side until you find checksum the error that pertains to your problem. Good luck!

Thanks for that. I have already read through this page which will help me to solve the underlying problem, BUT the problem at the moment is that I can't see anything on the screen which makes it tricky to do any debugging!!
Can anyone help?

Do you know which key loads the default values in the BIOS setup?
You can try the key combinations blind, first hit the key to enter BIOS, then the key to load/restore default valus, and last the key to save them. Then reboot.
Or you could try to remove the CMOS battery for between 15 and 60 mins, reinstall it and then try....
Or if you know where the "clear CMOS" jumper is you can use it to reset the settings......
Also, have you checked the connection, both ends, that the video card is still properly seated, or if you had onboard video and switched to a video card that the onboard is not the active video source (plug the monitor into the onboard connector)

Thanks mjc.
I had thought about the "blind" option but I am not convinced I know the keystrokes, my two other PCs have a slightly different sequence so I can't practice!!.
The "remove the battery" option sounds good and I will have a go at that.
Thanks again

yes, remove, and or- replace it, then follow the rest of mjc's instructions.
