I have the Windows 98 original version CD, I was wondering if I download all the critical updates on the "windows update" if that will give me Windows 98 SE ? Or do I need to buy another CD.
Thanks,

Look here (http://www.geocities.com/~budallen/982description.html) and here (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q234762) for the long answers. Pay special attention to the section of the first link that begins here (http://www.geocities.com/~budallen/982description.html#SR1 and Second Edition).
The short answer is that if you've got 98, I can't see you getting your money's worth if you pay for the 98 SE upgrade (or ME, for that matter).
I have Windows 98SE and I like it. I bought when I built my computer. My
copy of Windows 98 plainly say's second edition.Might want do a clean install rather than an upgrade.
There are a few places that I found on PriceWatch (http://www.pricewatch.com) that sell the SE UPDATE for about $15. Search for windows se update. Note that it is not an UPGRADE; you need to have the Windows 98 first edition installed before upgrading. When I installed it, I felt it was a worthwhile improvement.
