CREATIVE SB 5.1 PLATINUM ir drive

I have a machine with a "CREATIVE SB 5.1 PLATINUM ir drive" fitted, I think the sound card has gone and need to be replaced. (it's not being found, although I have tried rebedding it)

Is the "CREATIVE SB 5.1 OEM" soundcard the same as the one with the above setup it seems to be the same but does it have all the connection for the "CREATIVE SB 5.1 PLATINUM ir drive"?

So many questions, so little time ;)

If you're buying the card locally, then take the old card, its box, and manual to the store and compare it with the new one.
If you're buying online, then go to www.google.com, type in sb 5.1, look for a site with specs, and compare.

I just wondered if anyone had replaced the same and could advise. Or knew where I could find a detailed pic.

What operating system are you using? If Win9x or Me, you might try heading into SAFEMODE and removing all instances of the soundcard. I think on the install disk there are options to remove the drivers...you might want to check that also.

Have you tried removing the card and rebooting, then shuting down and reinstalling and rebooting? As usual, make sure all power is off to the Motherboard...;)
