Logitech wingman Force 3D USB *Faulty help

i have this joystick and need help if possible When you plug into the computer and power it up the stick lurches to one side and stays there
what could it possibly be i can buy it off a friend but am not sure
if its woth it if i cant fix it any help as what it could be would be welcome

Is the return policy from the store your friend bought it expired yet? If so, try contacting Logitech directly. Probably covered by the warranty.

Don't know enough about the internal workings of force-feedback joysticks so I don't know if there's a simple internal fix for it, but that would void any warranty anyway (opening it and poking around).
