I've been getting spammed to death in my Hotmail so I decided to just let the thing fill up and maybe it will start to bounce some stuff back. So then I get a note from Hotmail telling me that I'm getting too full and maybe I should think about getting more space for a small fee. I think about this and start to get pissed. What, I should pay for more space to hold all the spam I'm getting and its because of them I'm getting all of it to begin with. They changed my profile because when they read my mind they found that I would love to share my address with the world but by mistake I had checked the box not to. So they fixed it for me. I think to myself they need spanked so I figure I'll just return that little notice with a vicious letter but to my surprise you can't reply to their note and looking around I can't find anyone to send nasty notes to. I'm trying Eudora now. :)
Hehe.....yeah, Hotmail has a complaint deparment ...dev/null (aka the recycle bin), it is staffed by clippy and the damn dog from XP (not even sure the mutt had a name).
Well if you can hold on for a little while longer you will have the protection of BrightMail...but then again if they hadn't turned on the everybody's Grail shaped beacons, then they wouldn't need BrightMail.
HotMail = Spam Central.....
Seriously that is probably the best thing you can do, give the HotMail account up for lost.....I would not give them one cent, it is their own fault, because some two-bit marketing know-it-all decided that it was best for the company to get a pitence in ad dollars.

If you're very careful with ticking the boxes in hotmail you can keep it free.
I did an experiment last year, 2 accounts very carefully ticking the right boxes & 2 ticking the wrong boxes
the results..., 2 boxes = empty: 2 boxes = full: every month !
I certainly wouldn't pay for the account though.
another point: I think once the spammers get you, then forget it, just let the account expire, forget it & open another.

I know your right but I was just hoping against hope that I would see a decrease after a time. Like you said I'm going to have to let it die. It's just a pain to have to send out that change of address to everyone.
Oh by the way Vic I set up my multi boot again and got those PM errors again 116 and a new one 117. Everything boots ok so I'm going to keep going for a while I want to play a bit before I reinstall again.

Very interesting and strange. I went crazy after getting fed up with all the spam and started sending stuff back were it came form and if I could find a company I could contact I sent them the crap with a short note that I was giving them back their spam. I also unsubscribed a bunch I figured this would only get me more. But.... my spam has been cut down to all most nothing. Only 5 today! I know that I'm not the cause of this. What's going on has anyone heard anything? Have I just been the witness to a miracle?

I thought I might be forced to leave Hotmail because of a weird text problem a week or so ago..but it cleared up. There is a way to email the Complaint dept, but I spent two days finding it (and forget how I got there finally), and they emailed back that they were working on my "how come my password isn't saving, even though it says "leave me logged in"?" problem. Rather doubt they were working on it very hard..but I figured out what to do about it all by myself.:)
And this morning I went to Hotmail, and found "0" in the Junk Mail folder. WOW..should have taken a screenshot and saved it for a rarity, huh? :D
Vic 970 has a point on the "free" part though. Anything not free, I would have left long ago!

If you set your junk mail setting to custom only e-mail from people in your safe list will get through. Its a pain but maybe worth it. It depnds on which is more of a hassle this or sending ouy change of address notices.

Second day of "0" in JunkMail...wow. Maybe the junk mail senders are busy "pinging" everyone??? I locked up yesterday online..suspect the abnormally high number of pings combined with a few popups at a site I was checking on for a post just overwhelmed my system.:(
I put mine on "Exclusive" as Paul recommended aways back. If someone is not on your Address list in Hotmail, the mail goes directly to Junk. I open the Junk folder each morning, scan down the list of titles/subjects..and usually just hit the "Empty folder" button. However, I have still not gotten as much spam as many here have..think the most I ever got was 10 one day.

I got a big 5 today and on a Friday too. I noticed that on the weekend I get a big jump in spam. I had my junk mail settings to Default so I bumped it up to Enhanced. But only 5 this is nothing to what i use to get. This is really spooky. Maybe it's an early halloween prank.

Before this thread dies and goes into oblivion I have to announce to the world that since Friday I've only been spammed 3 times. It's simply amazing.

Me too..got 1, and 1, and 0 again this morning. But, maybe we ought to be quiet about it...the spammers might notice we're not getting deluged!
Maybe the BrightMail filters kicked in?
