I would be interested in knowing from which web site I could download the Visual Studio software that includes Visual C++, Visual Basic and other programs since it is very expensive to buy. I have been studying for the Microsoft Certification on Visual C++ with MFC. Thanks. LB.

When I try to run the Visual C++ learning edition that I own it does not run. Instead a message box is displayed, saying :The line Device <Directory specified for binaries\ MMD.386 is missing in your SYSTEM.INI[386nh] section. I have understood that this is related to virtual devices used by Windows 3.x in enhanced mode. But my o.s. is Windows 98 which anyway does not use .ini files but the Registry file (?). Probably it is an old version of Visual C++ which should run on Windows 3.x. Thanks.LB.

Is this opening a project or just opening the app. If the latter I would uninstall/reinstall.

Are you a student? If so, check to see if MS still do a student licence for this product - way cheaper than retail.
I got MS Office Pro, MS Publisher, Visual Studio Pro for around £130 on a student licence around 3 years back.
