View Full Version : New geforce/nvidia drivers

The WindowsXP upgrade site says I could use the newest nvidia drivers, version 3.0.8.7. I currently am using a geforce2 card, and about to reinstall by geforce4 ti4400. Anyway, when I go directly to the nvidia site via the link on my nvidia software, the newest drivers are only 3.0.8.2. (there are or were some new beta drivers, but they were a whole different number). So what's with these 3087s suggested by microsoft? Anybody familiar with these, and why they are not posted on the nvidia site. Thanks.

Malcore, thanks for the link. It's a good one, and one I've never seen before. But I'm still curious why these 3087 drivers come from microsoft and are not listed at the nvidia site, only the 3082s and the newer 4000 drivers are listed at the latter. I guess I'm suspicious of drivers recommended by microsoft, like maybe these are nvidia drivers with hidden features that send back all the information about my computer to Bill's home computer so that he can then send back special viruses that screw up anything that is not microsoft software. But I don't mean to sound grandiose or paranoid or anything.

Also, Malcore, just out of curiosity, it's 1:02 AM Eastern Standard Time, USA, as I respond to your reply that came within the past 10-15 minutes. What time is it there? I mean, sometimes I still am in awe of the power of computers and the fact that I'm communicating with someone who was nice enough to respond to a question I had and who also is half way around the world. I have the GeForce 3 and using the Windows XP drivers that Microsoft supplied. (v3087)

Haven't had any issues as of yet.

I was just looking at this post and a funny thing happened. I have a geforce 2 mx 400 card and went to check win update- nothing. Went to Nividia and downloaded the 3.082, no problem. Went back to Win update and the driver that you guys were talking about showed up. Downloaded that and still no problem. Very wierd.

The wierd part being how come it did not show before the update from nividia?
