Excuse me for posting a new thread but I was not allowed to post a reply to myself. When I try to run Visual C++ it won't run: instead a message box is displayed saying "The line DEVICE = <Directory specified in Setup for binaries\ MMD.386" is missing in your SYSTEM.INI[386Enh] section" . The version of Visual C++ that I own is probably supposed to be running on Windows 3.x. My o.s. is Windows 98 and even though it has a Registry file it also has a System.ini file. The line mentioned above is related to Virtual Devices and I don't know very much about them. I have already tried to uninstall/install Visual C++, but the same message box each time has been displayed. 386 Enh refers to the processor 386 Enhanced Mode, which has no relation to Windows 98 even though I have heard that a Pentium is composed of 486 processors. Anyway I do not know the meaning of the above mentioned line and how to write with NotePad the missing line in the System.ini file, which is located at C:/Windows/System. Thanks. LB.
