Well, I usually rest on saturdays right? well not this saturday. my mom has been wanting our computer to be placed on the other side of our family room which is roughly 20 feet away. one catch, she didn't want a cable running clear accross the room since we have a cable modem. so what do i get to do? drill a hole into the laundry room, then into my bathroom, then out into the garage then back into the garage and connect it to our computer. wow i started this project at roughly 5pm and its 11 pm and im just now done woohoo. what can i say i got to use a drill and put holes in our houses walls hehe fun!

Drilling holes and pulling wires on a Saturday night beats the heck out of dinner and a movie?
Nice job!
Question: In case she does decide to move it elsewhere...could you have used a wireless setup?

wireless setup with a cable modem? i'd have to buy a new lan card and a special hub i believe. i could be mistaken. and i HIGHly doubt that she'll have it moved. i think everyone likes it here.

I think you can set up Cable Modems to wireless???? My house has plaster walls, so drilling and pulling definitely could use an alternative approach here.
I've never known a woman, who once she's absolutely/definitely decided on something, to ever change her mind...I think your safe!:p:D:eek:

Both sexes should be allowed to change their decisions when the first decision was made with insufficient data!:( Example, my husband has been sold on the idea of a tankless water heater for quite some time. Supposedly more energy efficient because heater only turns on when hot water is being used..so theoretically you "save" gas. Not having a tank in a very hard water area seemed a "plus" too, so recently when our friend needed a gas water heater and really has no money, we decided to go ahead and buy the tankless, and give her our old one. My beloved spent over four hours cutting a bigger hole in our roof (going from 3 inch vent to 5 inch vent), and changing all the appropriate fittings, etc and etc. He's also turned on to idea that with the tankless being much smaller, he will be able to put water softener in same closet at some point...another idea he's sold on.
Okay..actual practice on new tankless is that if you turn off the water, say like when I turn the shower nozzle off between wetting my hair and rinsing shampoo out..the heater turns off.., and when I turn it back on, I get the small amount of hot left in pipes, then a shot of ICY water until stupid heater decides to turn back on. So, can't turn off water in between to conserve water...:( Small print in the instruction manual says that heater only works properly to 4500 above sea level..we're at 6300..might explain some of our problems with the new heater, and also the fact that I can't turn on any cold to mix with hot (if water is too warm) without turning "off" the flipping heater...argh.
So, my poor husband is indeed faced with a woman who has changed her mind! If I am going to "waste" a resource, I would rather waste gas than water. And, after experimenting/troubleshooting for a few more hours this last Saturday, he has agreed to buy another "regular" hot water heater. It's been an expensive mistake (and we have that bigger hole in the roof problem to deal with), but we will both be looking for the fine print on the next big purchase...like that softener he wants!

Kay,
If I went to the highest point in my lil' town, I would look up to you.
If I climbed the tallest tree around upon that highest point, I still would look up to you.
If I went to the biggest hill in my county, I would still find myself looking up to you.
If I climbed the highest peak in my state, breathlessly, I would still be looking up to you.
Dang! You must be high! LOL!!! :D
Or my state's too damned short!
Just leave the metalbestos and flashing alone and pipe the 'new' 'old style' gas H2O heater through it. Can't hurt much with an oversized breach. As long as it doesn't leak.
Sorry to hear the instantaneous water heater didn't work out for you. Where'd you say you were frum, the Alps? (Oh yeah, incognito I almost forgot)
Most products have altitude compensating accessories or special nozzles to deal with your dilemma. Check into that if you haven't already.
(Sheesh, flashes of Gentle Ben and solar powered wireless internet access... and the frizzies :D )

Geee Kay, at least you have water, When I lived in Angelfire (before there was one) It was cow creek city for water. I hated it in the winter when the creeks would freeze. Have to bust a hole hurry and wash and run back to the cabin before your hair froze and broke off. The good ole days :D

LOL, Fruss . Actually I have been a bit disappointed in the name of our closest town. We have in New Mexico such cool Indian names like Tesuque and Pojoaque, and Spanish names like Espanola and Estancia, and even interesting names like Truth or Consequences (commonly referred to here as "T or C")..and where do we find property we like? Outside Moriarty, NM..sigh.
Yoda : Our friend recently brought property OFF the electric grid outside of Golden (south of Madrid), in the Sandias. (Mountain range, Fruss , with Sandia Crest being 10,640 feet above sea level...so looks like a mountain even from our lofty position..lol.) Thank goodness for cell phones! She had a well drilled, and my husband recently installed the well pump and water tank (working off a gasoline generator right now), and this last Sunday, he installed "my" water heater..sniffle. We helped her buy a used solar system setup, and it came with solar panels, batteries, and a wind generator..so hope to get her enough electricity soon to run her heater this winter. She says it hasn't been too "bad" so far..coldest it has been, she says, is 45 F in her trailer in the mornings. BRRRRRRR..good thing she is the hardy type, huh? She actually loves it there.
