I recently recieved a pile that included (among other things) a Epox EP-KXA rev. 4 mother board, a Tekram K7KX-A motherboard, a 900 mz Athalon "Classic", and a 900mz Athlon "Thunderbird". It looks like the T-Bird won't work on either board, so I tried to use the Classic in each of the other 2 boards. The Tekram does nothing - no beeps, no video. The video slot feels very tight at one end, that may be part of the problem.

So I am down to the Epox & the classic Athlon. This set up appears to boot up ok (lights come on, sees hard drives, memory, etc.) until I get a message saying "Building DMI Pool", then it stops dead. It makes no difference if I use a bootable floppy or not.

Any ideas on how to proceed?

strip it down to nothing But. Video, and floppy drive.
then see if it boots.
if it does Flash the bios with the latest version

Okay, I tried it with a generic AGP video card, floppy drive, and 256 meg of ram. I got the same result - it sees the floppy & ram, says "Building DMI Pool", then stops. Any other ideas?

Try resetting the BIOS to default values....

I tried "Load Default Values" and "Load Failsafe Values", with the same results.
