I have windows xp which happens to be running on a hewlett packard. the question. when i press my right shift button 8 times or hold it down to long it says i've activated something called "sticky keys". when i click setting to try to remove it, all it does is close that window out. it changes no setting and i continue to have that problem.

now i press my shift key so much because in a few or my computer games (deer hunter 4) i have to hold the shift button in order to run or make a vehicle go a little faster so im holding it for sometimes longer than 8 seconds.

my question.
how can i remove sticky keys. i never use them for what they're attended for, heck i dont even know what sticky keys are for. thanks for any information that will guide me to removing this annoying problem.

Hi,

Try this.

When the sticky keys dialogue message appears click "settings"
Click the tab "keyboard" and click the "settings" option in the sticky keys section.
Untick "Use Shortcut" and click "OK"

Alternatively goto to the "Start - Settings - Control Panel"
Select "Accessibilty options"
Click the tab "keyboard" and click the "settings" option in the sticky keys section.
Untick "Use Shortcut" and click "OK"

That should Do it.

Do you have it set to show all....not just the commonly used menus?

Also it may be you need to access them from the admin panel....
