(mscdoo1) missing etc... and i can boot from cd as well it gets to the screen start windows 98 setup gos past that but when it loads the first part (dos writing) it says something about oemd001 or something like that it then says no drives found installation aborted then continiues gets to the A:\ screen and thats it we can't do nothing it when you try and type the cdrom drive it says not there basically.... its getting a bit silly now.... so if anyone can help it will be much appreciated thanyou from Ann

Hi and welcome to PCG forums.
I like the 98SE boot floppy for anything 9x. It has CD drivers on it. Try This one (http://www.drd.dyndns.org/cgi-bin/download.cgi?FileID=5124) Make sure you write protect it after you D/L it.
Can you try going into BIOS to see if your CD-ROM is being detected?

Well,is it possible that you lense on your CD is dusty giveing an intemitent read problem?Or From the dos Startup menue did you install the necessary driver components. From this menue you will see by pressing Shift F-8 this will install the necessary drivers (most likely you will answer yes to all the questions). When finished reboot to the Biose (I assume you know how to do this)Now Set the computer to boot from the CD (you will have to set this back to IDO ,thats your hard drive when finished installing Windows.Try soft booting if that doesn't work try hard booting by turning the power completely off.
