hello,
i have a friends ibm ativa, 233 cpu, 64meg ram, 4meg video. when i boot it up, after it goes through the memory test, when it is time to switch to windows, it goes to a black screen that says ez bios running. it scrolls up the screen non stop. and that is all it will do. thanks in advance for any suggstions or help. thanks again DALE.
It sounds like at some point in time the hard drive was replaced with a larger one....when it starts scrolling hit the keys {ctrl}{c} together and that should dotp the scroll.....see if it is a directory listing, or something like File0001.chk, etc. In all likelyhood you will either need to repair the ES-BIOS install...which means going to manufacturer of the drive's website and downloading the utility or at the very least reinstall the OS...

Try resetting the BIOS and if that doesnt work, try flashing the BIOS with the latest update.
Hope it helps :(
If the drive had EZ-BIOS on it at one point it needs to have the EZ-BIOS removed or repaired which can be done (repaired) only with the EZ-BIOS setup for that drive or (removed)wiping the drive with a zero fill program or the EZ-BIOS setup. Flashing the computer's BIOS won't get rid of the EZ-BIOS overlay...and if you would post the model number/manufacturer of the drive we'll beable to find out if the drive is really a 2 gig or if it is larger....because if it is really a 2 GB drive then it may not need the EZ-BIOS to begin with.
