Occassionally I would like to put down the mouse and browse using only the keyboard. (need the practice and besides the wrist gets sore) Problem is, as soon as I pause to read a page, the top of the page turns from active on top to greyed out inactive. The only way to regain use of the keys is to reach over and tap the mouse again. Is there a button on the keyboard or some way to go 'round this?

Also, why does the title bar do this? Sometimes it happens in just a few seconds, other times in about 30 or so. And also it doesn't happen at all for quite some time.

Guesses anyone?

This happens in:
W98SE - Yeah I know
IE 5.5 - I said I said KNOW already... I'll get a round tuit, promise.

If it greys and another application hasn't taken the focus then perhaps the focus has moved to the desktop or the taskbar. If you are running maximised this will be less likely to happen.

Alt+Tab will bring back the focus if IE is the only window running; if more than one window is open (even if minimised) keep Alt pressed and keep tapping the Tab key till you see IE and then release.
