Just got the 9700 Pro.

System:
P4S533 Motherbard
P4 2.26GHz
WinME
Enermax EG365P 350 Watt PSU
SB Audigy

Problem:
Changed from a GeForce4 Ti. Removed all drivers and any mention of Nvidia on system. Installed Radeon. Constantly crashing before I can even install the drivers for it. Sometimes on restart, won't boot into Windows.
Tried all power connections for extra power lead on card, same problem. Reseated card over and over. Checked all connections. Put GeForce back in, NO problems.
Is the card an RMA candidate or is this a possible power supply problem for the Radeon 9700Pro? Is it picky when it comes to the extra power input on the card? Should I take the thing back or get another power supply?
Problem is, the choice of PSUs here is slim, Enermax being the only familiar brand.

:(

Thanks mjc .
I saw that link and did check it out.

I RMAed the card, great dealer, and just for so, I picked up a Herolchi HEC power supply here. Rated highly in the link and pretty cheaply priced.

Well, the guy at the shop tested the card in his machine and it worked, no problems. He let me exchange it anyway. So I brought home the new card and the new PSU. Put the card in with the old Enermax PSU, and it worked!! Flawlessly. Go figure.

So, now I have a nice spare PSU. Looks like the beginning of a new system: PSU, GeForce 4 Ti....

Oh, and everything that has been said about the 9700Pro...it's true. I am truly impressed by the features and performance of this card. Quite remarkable.

Thanks again,
