Hi all,

I went to device manager there is a yellow ? as the drivers was on a seperate cd I installed them all seemed to go ok but on start up the same message & also ? in dev/man . It has onboard sound I checked the bios it is enabled , also checked resourses it has irq 11 & c180-c1bf in/out & says no conflicts , in the sound & media in control panel it is not recognised , audio & voice are greyed out . Have downloaded drivers from creative tech site but same prob .

Ok....is there an "Unknown PCI device" entry in Device Manager?

If it is there boot into safe mode and remove both it and all the entries under Sound....then reboot and have the drivers ready. Point windows to the location of the new drivers when asked (would be a good idea to have them in their own folder).

If that line doesn't show up...boot int safe mode and check, if it shows in safe mode, do the above......

If it doesn't show in safe mode, just do the above procedure......

Double listing of the driver is one of the signs of a potential problem or confusion for the OS...

So get rid of all of it(sound card drivers)
and start over, using the frivers on the floppy is fine.......

sorry if I am getting boring but it is driving me up thre wall , I removed the creative sound blaster pc1128 drivers in safe mode , started up again reinstalled the driver all seems ok till at the end it says the file you are copying is older than the current file on your pc , I have tried both yes to accept it & no to contiue with previous file , still the dreaded message appears & ? in dev man , also in resourses it does not always allocate an irq .off to bed now give you chaps a chance to help , will try in morning .

thanks again IANUK

still the same no further forward , it seems to load the driver but when you check under dev/man /drivers the message says could not load drivers error code 2.

As I said at beginning it is a reload cd , would formating & putting windows on manually possibly help .

Thanks IANUK
