Probably, it's not that they're hiding more things, but that we're finding more things that they've hidden.

An easy way to deal with them is to open the inf file in Wordpad and then use the replace feature to replace the word hide, with , and then replace all of the ones you find......

I just had a look and I have 1,706 *.inf files

how many are likely to contain 'hide' and how to check them without opening each individually.?

This particular inf is an XP file that controls what system add-ons are seen in Add/Remove Programs.
